Our
Story |

Why
We Are Here
We became
the leading publisher in the world of autism/Asperger's primarily
because my son, Alex, was diagnosed with autism. This event
led me to write a charming little book,
Laughing and Loving with Autism,
as I tried to show the world some of the positives and joys that
a child with autism can bring. Soon other authors were bringing
their books to us in numbers so large, that in a short time we
stopped publishing in all other venues and focused in this field. For
the first time in my life I was blessed, in that my vocation and
passion were blended. Alex's perspectives constantly led
me to redefine my language and outlook.
Here is an excerpt from my second book,
More Laughing and Loving with Autism,
that shows how sometimes people with autism can be a little TOO
honest.

I
was helping Alex with his homework when we got to Math.
The drill required learning math terms witht he first
being "hypothesis." Since Alex has a problem
with things that are not concrete, I thought this was
beyond him, but I tried anyway.
"Alex,
it's an idea that could happen."
I explained it as basically as I could. He regarded me
with a blank stare.
Later,
to my chagrin, there was a recap exercise. The first question
was, "Make up your own hypothesis." I turned
to Alex without much hope.
"Alex, you have to give me a hypothesis."
"Maybe I will."
Sometimes
I wonder...
|
Our children,
students, and friends with autism and Asperger's bring
new meanings to our lives. I hope our books, videos
and conferences assist you in bringing a better future
to your horizon.
 |
Until I
see you at one of our conferences, have a great day
and...
Keep Smiling!
